In your veg box this week…
There are 2 purple and white turnips, remember use the tops fresh they are delish! This week we have our first harvest of potatoes, this is a variety with a lovely pink flesh called Sarpo Una, great for baking. There are runner beans in your box, remember these are to be cooked not eaten raw. There is both a green cucumber and a lemon cucumber. You have bunch of spring onions and a chard bag.
In the stir fry bag this week, from left to right round the circle, there is atec broccoli, kale, broccoli tops, achocha, french beans and chillies (in the middle of the picture).
Aztec broccoli (huauzontle), has a taste similar to broccoli or spinach with a slightly nutty flavour. The kale you have this week is a Scottish variety called sutherland and there are broccolli leaves. Achocha is the light green veg, this can be eaten raw or cooked, we love it cut in half, seeds removed and fried or grilled. This is a South American fruit, something like a cross between a cucumber and a pepper. You will also find some french beans and chillies.
This week there is also parsley, tomatoes and a green pepper.
